about

3 Instrumentals? What?

We are big fans of 'The Draize Train' by The Smiths tucked away on the b side of 'Panic' and have been playing the excellent Baltic Fleet's 'Towers' and 'The Dear One' a lot recently. The idea of writing some instrumentals sprung from there and we decided to try and link them to the visual train imagery we've been using.

We've had a couple of instrumentals on a previous album 'Brinkmanship' but It was some time since we'd had an excuse to leave the vocals out. Those tracks were more acoustic led. These were intended to be led by piano and electric guitar.
Thanks for some some top contributions from Leo and Geoff on saxophone and additional lead guitar. They definitely helped move the tracks into some interesting and different areas. All three tracks had overdubs and were mixed at our spiritual home The Dugout in Fareham.

We hope you can listen and imagine hurtling through wide open spaces, the smell of burning rubber and creosote, the sounds of screeching brakes and air displacement in tunnels or, more likely, waiting on a platform for your train to arrive feeling slightly annoyed.

about

The Gluespots UK

Hampshire brothers Jim and Dave, aided by Geoff, Rod, Leo and other compadres, The Gluespots write songs and record them. What do they sound like? Essentially indie- acoustic but with occasional unlikely forays into synths and rock and roll.
